For People

Strength

Root power for the lifts — yang current, warming drive, force.

Strength is narrower than Build and more pointed. It is for the heavy day: the session where the number on the bar is the point, where you need the nervous system awake and the body warm and willing before the first real set. Where Build supports a block, this supports a performance.

The composition leans into the warming, driving roots — the yang side of the old pharmacopoeia. These are not the calming adaptogens; they are the ones traditionally reached for when a body needs to express force rather than settle. Taken before a lift, what they support is readiness: circulation, drive, and the sense of a system that is switched on rather than coaxed.

It is still a tonic, which means it works underneath the moment rather than whipping through it. You will not feel the jitter of a pre-workout. You will feel, over a few sessions, that the heavy days start from a higher floor.

What it supports in the body

The body systems the herbs in this formula are traditionally understood to nourish — resolved through our knowledge graph, where the classical record and modern biology are read together. Structure and function, never a claim of treatment.

Systems this blend’s herbs are measured to engage in human binding data — and traditionally named for, independently. The number is how many herbs in the blend converge there. Two evidence systems arriving at the same place, separately, is our highest standard. See the research →

What you get

What this formula gives you

Supports readiness and drive ahead of heavy effort

Nourishes the warming yang current of the classical tonic roots

Supports stamina without the overstimulation of a stimulant pre-workout

Composed for complementarity — four plants, four distinct contributions

How it works

The science of Strength

Not buzzwords — the actual biology of the plants in this formula: their compounds, the targets those compounds are measured to engage, and the systems they nourish.

Four roots and one mushroom, and the through-line is the body's energy economy. Cordyceps militaris contributes cordycepin and adenosine — molecules native to the ATP and adenosine signaling the body uses to govern oxygen delivery and the cellular sense of available energy. Panax quinquefolius, American ginseng, brings the ginsenoside family, Rb1, Rg1 and Re; where Asian ginseng runs hot, the American species is the cooling adaptogen, traditionally the one for stamina without overstimulation.

Cistanche deserticola and Eleutherococcus senticosus form the foundation. Cistanche's echinacoside and acteoside make it the classic desert yang tonic of the kidney-adrenal axis; eleuthero's eleutherosides B and E are the reference adaptogen chemistry. Their measured convergence in our data is narrow and specific — TOP1, a DNA-handling enzyme — which is worth saying plainly: a shared target count is a measure of overlap, not of merit. This blend is composed for complementarity rather than reinforcement. The four plants are here because they do different things to the same end, not the same thing four times.

The molecules, measured

A formula is a community of compounds. Below are active molecules from the herbs in this blend and the proteins each is measured to engage — the precise points where the plants meet biology. So you see not just that it works, but how.

Cordyceps

Cordyceps militaris

Cordycepin (3'-deoxyadenosine)

PubChem ↗

Measured in the lab: binds to Adenosine receptor A1 · Ki 7.12 µM

Measured to act on

Adenosine receptor A1

A receptor for adenosine that helps calm cellular activity and signaling.

Tyrosyl-DNA phosphodiesterase 1

A repair enzyme that clears certain damage points so DNA can be mended.

Pentostatin (2'-deoxycoformycin)

PubChem ↗

Measured in the lab: binds very tightly to Adenosine deaminase · Ki 1 nM

Measured to act on

Adenosine deaminase

An enzyme that breaks down adenosine, part of how cells recycle their building blocks.

American Ginseng

Panax quinquefolius

Ginsenoside Rb1

PubChem ↗

Measured to act on

5'-AMP-activated protein kinase

The cell's energy sensor, switching on fuel-burning pathways when energy runs low.

Bifunctional epoxide hydrolase 2

An enzyme that breaks down fatty-acid signals involved in blood vessel tone and inflammation.

Measured to act on

Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily M member 8

The sensory channel that detects cold and the cooling feel of menthol.

Everything we publish about these plants traces to a primary source — the compounds to PubChem, ChEMBL, and BindingDB, the traditional uses to named, dated herbals. We describe what a plant is and what it is understood to nourish — the body’s own systems, structure and function only. We do not claim it treats, cures, or prevents any disease, and nothing here is a substitute for professional care. See our method & sources →

Why these herbs together

The shared mechanism

A formula is not a pile of herbs — it is herbs whose actions meet. Below are the molecular targets that more than one plant in this blend is measured to engage. Where they converge is the blend's reason to exist.

TOP1an enzyme that relaxes DNA tension so it can be read and copied2 herbs converge

American Ginseng · Eleuthero

Each convergence is a gene whose protein two or more of this formula’s herbs are measured to engage (PubChem BioAssay & ChEMBL). It describes characterized molecular activity and the protein’s normal role — structure and function only, never a claim to treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

In practice

Who it’s for, and how to use it

Who it’s for

For the lifter and the power athlete on heavy days — anyone who wants to arrive at a demanding session already warm, already switched on, and would rather build that state than chemically borrow it.

How to use it

1/4 tsp (up to 1 tsp) in hot water, tea, coffee, a smoothie, or food, on heavy days, pre-lift. Begin with light doses — our extracts are very potent.
